TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I teach partly because I love to learn!

For my entire professional life, I have been an educator. I have worked with a variety of learners in number of intersting settings - teaching math and coaching runners at a high school in Michigan; providing professional development opportunities for in-service teachers in Connecticut, Maine, and Massachusetts; teaching Spanish to preschool, elementary, and middle school students at a Montessori school; and most recently working with community college students in psychology and child development.

In each of these teaching roles I ahve learned so much about my students, the content, the learning process, and myself!

I view teaching as a partnership between teacher and learner. I believe my role as teacher is to do my best to share my passion for my subject/field and to encourage my students to challenge themsevles in their learning. Good communication both ways is essential this partnership.

I expect that my studnets will push me to grow as an instructor as much as I push them to grow as studetns/learners.

I look forward to our work together this semester!
