PROFESSIONAL GOALS

  • After graduation, I will be applying for my LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and have a position already waiting for me. I am also thinking about going on to receive my Bachelor's degree in Social Work, but right now it is one step at a time.

PERSONAL

I have been married to my best friend for 23 years, we have one 13 year old son. We have 3 dogs and 5 cats at home. We moved from Massachusetts to Maine about 11 years ago. I have my CNA and CRMA certifications, as well as numerous others in the mental health field. I have always been afraid of math, and that has been what has kept me from attaining a college degree. I decided in the summer of 2013 that I had to face my fears and go for it. I met an incredible math instructor that changed my whole outlook on math!! I conquered that feat, now nothing is stopping me from my goal of having what I have always wanted, a college degree.

I have worked in many different capacities in the healthcare and mental health fields, finding that my true passion in life is to help and support others.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY AND PURPOSE

I am so excited to teach this pilot course! Knowing that you are all new students at KVCC, I can remember being overwhelmed and excited about this new adventure and hoping that I wouldn't feel like I fell into a hole and couldn't get out. I met the most wonderful people here at KVCC, both faculty and peers. I have been successful because I used the resources that KVCC provides, I asked questions when I needed an answer. I never felt that I was alone.

Faculty and student instructors are all aware that everyone is individual, and they all learn at their own pace and way. No two people learn and retain information the same way. We are all here for you.

If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to ask or let us know if you are having an issue or two. It's normal...we get it!
